1. tell us a little bit about your family and your business.
I am married to Stuart Gibb and we have 2 kids, Seneca our son who is 12 and Amara our daughter who is 9. We opened Inspire
Women’s Fitness Jan 3, 2017. It is a women’s only fitness studio. Many people say that their gym is not like any other out there but I feel like we can truly say that. It is about community, inclusiveness and a safe place for women to come to feel accepted for who they are. Our classes are for all levels (some may be a little more challenging than others) and we focus on safety and helping you progress and achieve your fitness goals.
2. What inspired you to start your own gym?
I had been teaching Zumba in Fort Langley for a few years and was always looking for a space to become my own Zumba studio. I realized that just Zumba probably was not going to work and my husband and I started talking about a group fitness studio. I knew that I was ready to do more and for me, it was mostly about making an impact in the community and people’s lives.
3. Who is your ideal client?
We have many ideal clients because we have a huge range of class times and child care. Our clients are moms as we have childcare during the day and on Saturdays, working women as we have class times as early as 5:15 am and then evening classes starting at 4:45 pm, retired women as they can sleep in a bit and come to 10 am or 11 am classes and students as we have so many different class time that can work for any schedule (student rate as well).
4. What are your dreams for the gym? Where do you see it going in 5 or 10 years?
I want the word to spread about Inspire that there is a place where a woman can come work out without judgment, feel safe, be cared about and be a part of a community. I want to keep growing this location and eventually license or franchise Inspire so we can spread all over Canada.
5. What do you do when you are not at the gym?
When I am not at the studio I am usually running around like a mad woman, school pick-ups, cleaning my house, groceries, ball hockey, dance drop off, family time and cooking. When I can I have tea with friends, karaoke, swim and watch TV.
6. Besides Woman’s fitness, what are your Passions in life?
My family, FOOD (cooking and eating), dance, art, swimming, karaoke, time with friends and as you already know the community.

7. Tell us a little bit about your heart for the community.

I believe we are all here to help each and to connect with each other. I knew my purpose very early in life. I am here to bring people together, to help people and encourage others to do the same and to motivate people. I believe if we all take the time to learn at least a little about other people’s cultures, experiences and backgrounds it will change the world and we would see a lot more love and kindness instead of so much hate. Without community life would not have much meaning for me. It may be my biggest passion.
8. What started your passion for fitness?
I have always loved fitness because it has always energized me and it just feels so good to move your body. Also, I love feeling strong and I want other women to feel that way.

  1. My goals… probably my whole lifestyle. I’ve had awesome years, but then we got into a car accident and I feel like I lost it all. I want to build up my strength again and cut the unhealthy snacks.
