Hallway decor

Here is the end result of my hallway decorating. I found my guest book picture from our wedding ( I know it’s a little off centered), and I also have a box I got from Mcc furniture store for 5 bucks and knitted slippers from Mcc thrift shop in abbotsford for 50cents each. So that people will feel welcome to use and feel warm.

The small shoes for our son are from a local business called minimoc. They are great!!! Affordable and have many different colors, I highly reccommend you buy a pair. Www.minimoc.ca

Always my Baby

This evening I was doing our bi-weekly grocery shopping and I shed a tear in the deli aisle. Let me explain myself. As I was telling the Deli guy that I would like 300 grams of the Black forest ham that was on sale, I over heard a mom and her late teen son having a conversation. His mom started off by asking him if he made his “patented Grilled Cheese Sandwich” and if he had made some for his father. They laughed about how His dad only knows how to make Cereal and how the Teen age son will probably follow in his fathers footsteps if Mom doesn’t stop making such delicious meals. They laughed and talked, and I stood there trying (unsuccessfully) hard not to look like I was listening in. My eyes started to tear up as I thought about how one day, God willing, that will be me. I will take my sweet boy with me to the grocery store after picking him up from a friends house after a night of studying or after a basketball practice (fingers crossed). We will talk about his weekend and plans for the coming week. I will know his favorite lunches and which subjects he has a test in that week.

I was quickly brought back to reality when the Deli guy handed me my black forest ham all nicely labeled and said “is that all for you ma’am?”

(Ma’am!!! That is a whole new blog entry right there!!!)

I took my Deli meat and continued on my way, as i left, I heard the mom ask for the exact same order as I did.

My baby boy means so much to me. I can not even explain how much my heart is in love with him. He drives me so incredibly crazy and yet brings me to tears with how much I love him. I do not only love him, I really like him too. He is funny. He is smart. He is strong and super clever. I watch his approach to life and I am inspired. He is 2. Tonight it dawned on me just how much influence I have on his sweet little life.

He relies on my husband and I for every thing. Not only for his physical needs but for his mental and most importantly spiritual needs as well.

As I loaded up my groceries into our van, I placed the eggs in his empty car seat and almost teared up again. I emptied my cart and climbed into my quiet van and started my 5 minute drive home. I took those five minutes to pray for my boy.

I prayed out loud. I prayed loud. I cried. I love my boy.

“Dear God,

Thank you for entrusting your sweet little boy to me. Thank you for who I am because you added him to my family. I pray that you continue to teach me how to be his mom. Please, Give me wisdom to know how to be his mother. Help me to recognize the characteristics that you want to raise up in him and help me to nurture them. Please, help me to put aside my own agenda for his life. Help me to love him and see him the way you do. Help me to know the difference between “Worldly Perfection” and “Gods Calling”. Remind me that what I think the right thing to do is not always the thing that God has planned. Give me Patience for him that will last from toddler – teen years and extend until the day I have to let him go.

I pray specifically for his Best friends. For the friends he makes as a child, in elementary school, in high school, in university, and at work. I ask that you build up in him confidence and maturity. I pray that his friends see him as You see him. Please raise up people in his life that walk along side him and build him up. People he can turn to when he cant turn to his father and I. People that turn all his questions towards Jesus. I pray that my son is the type of friend that I am asking for him to have.

Thank you Lord for my sons health. He is strong. He is growing. He is developing at a wonderfully perfect rate. Thank you! Thank You.

Your very blessed daughter

Amen.

I could have prayed forever. But I pulled into the drive way and my husband was working in the garage so he came to my drivers side window to say hi. I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes and got out. No questions were asked. He gave me a smile and a hug and helped me unload the groceries. I mentioned to him that I saw a teen and his mom at the store and it made me think of our little lion cub. My husband just smiled and said. “I owe myself five bucks. I knew those tears were happy ones.” Me crying over sentimental moments is a common scenario in our house hold.

Oh well, I would rather be remembered as someone who loves so much that she cries than anything else:)

Snow Shoeing at Manning Park

In January we took our toddlers to Mount Seymour and to Manning Park to go snow shoeing. Seymour was 20 dollars for our family to use their trails and Manning Park was free. Seymour took 45 minutes to drive to from our house and Manning Park took over 2 hours to get to.

We packed a bunch of food and left right at nap time. Well rested children make adventures a little more bearable. We own our own snow Shoes and hiking back packs that carry our children. We use polls to help us hike up and down the hills. It makes a huge difference when you are carrying extra weight on your back.

Home Made Bubbles

Home Made Bubbles

Yesterday we made bubbles! I found a recipe a while ago on Pinterest and pinned it to my board. I finally made it and my kids love it! The bubbles last so much longer than the stuff i bought from the dollar store and I have a whole lot of it. Not sure if it is as cost efficient as I would hope something home made would be, but it does work great!

Try it!

Lenting it Go : The end result

For Lent this year I gave up Facebook. I decided I was wasting too much time distracted from playing with my kids and cleaning my house. The 40 days was amazing. It was hard at first. I deleted the application from my phone and from the automatic history of my web browser. I used the time that I would have spent browsing around Facebook with my family and with God.

The first few days my house was spotless and my dishes were always clean. My children, who are young, even noticed the difference. I kind of hoped there wouldn’t have been such a noticeable difference. I was hoping I was not as bad as I apparently was.

My first day back on Facebook was actually very uneventful. I posted a few pictures from the last 40 days, added some funny lion cub quotes and snooped a few interesting stories. That was it. I really didn’t miss it as much as I thought I did.

All and all. It was an awesome experience. It was one of the first times I have actually stuck with something that I didn’t have an accountability partner for or a coach yelling at me. I am proud of how well I did. I also do not feel like I need to go on Facebook as much as I did before. I think having this Blog also helped. It was another outlet for the thoughts and ideas. I could share them on here instead of on Facebook.

Next year I might try instagram:)

YouTube exercise

I never thought I would say that YouTube is helping me lose weight. I have been doing a couple YouTube video’s a day as well as playing or taking the dog for a walk. I am happy to announce that I have been able to wear a pant size smaller than a few weeks ago! I know that sounds drastic, I don’t think I was fitting the larger size perfectly, it was already a little loose, but I know I couldn’t zip up the size smaller. So the other day my pants broke and I decided to go pant shopping to get a new pair. I always try on more than one size, and two days ago, I can say that I could fit all the smallest sizes I brought in. It was a nice surprise.

I have been doing the YouTube videos, but I have also been trying to be more active, playing outside as well as snacking less.

Feature wall in a rental

So instead of spending tons of money painting your new space, my husband and I have been painting one wall in the living rooms of our rental places to give it a cosy feel. This living room we have has a wall that I think was panelled so it has some pretty awesome lines going down. I usually pick a tone that works with the beige/white/eggshell that our places usually have. With neutral couches and dark side tables and such. So it makes it easy to match things to it.

I found some bargain bin pillows for $2.00 each (not secondhand), and BAM. Cheap and easy way to make our place feel like home.

Here are a few photos of the fun.

Balance bikes

Balance bikes

My little lion cub absolutely loves his balance bike. He rides it until his legs get tired. I often take advantage of this Love for his bike by taking him on a little bike ride every evening before bed. We go until he cant go anymore.

At first he would just walk without touching his tush to the seat. So we put his seat down to the lowest setting and kept telling him to sit. As soon as he grasped this concept we raised his seat to an appropriate height for his leg length. All these things were a great step to getting him to become for comfortable and confident on his bike. They weren’t as key to his confidence as it was for him to see another peer on the same bike.

I invited his little cub buddy over who also has a Balance bike and the two of them went on a bike ride. It was shocking! My little cub went from a slow walk to running and soon lifting his feet off the floor and balancing while going down hills. That was it. He is now a pro. After 3 short bike rides he is now able to go as fast as he wants and sometimes while I watch him i cant believe he is only two.

Now if he would just stop pulling over to the side of the side walk to pick flowers, I might be able to take him on one of my runs.

Fun ideas for the front entrance

I saw this in a magazine ( three white shelf part) , I wanted to do something that was convenient and didn’t look messy. So I used an old shelf I bought from mcc and I bought the white shelves from boudiar homes ( spelling?) in abbotsford. I added hooks for the keys and bought wire to string across to keep mail in. I will eventually hang a photo above it (as soon as the owlet and hubby are done napping).
